Experience through this video the ascent of the world’s first 9a, Action Directe, a historic route opened in 1991 by Wolfgang Güllich, a pioneer of climbing during that era. I decided to try this route following a pulley injury on my ring finger. I didn’t want to stop climbing, so I continued but only using two fingers on my right hand. That’s why I went to the Frankenjura to attempt this route. It only took me six go to conquer this small piece of climbing history. Dating back to Daniel Woods’s first ascent a decade ago, people said there could be a low start to Defying Gravity V15. But people thought the single move on Defying Gravity might be one of the hardest single moves in the world. It was thought that climbing a v13/ 8B boulder into such a difficult and low percentage move could be impossible. Nathaniel decided that this year he would go back to Thunder Ridge Colorado and see if he could truly master the move and add in this new and difficult intro. Climbing in Italy has always been on my bucket list. I was super psyched to finally explore the country, discover its local crags, and try some of its hardest lines. Last year, I visited three places I had always wanted to climb at. The first stop was Andonno, a crag that holds a special place in Italian climbing history. It’s home to Noia, the first 8c+ in Italy. Then, in 2015, @stefano made the first ascent of Lapsus, Italy’s first 9b proposal. I really enjoyed my time there—the Italian lifestyle, the landscapes, the routes, mixing and. changing betas, trying hard, and, getting pumped!
